Mindfulness meditation teaches us how to become less emotionally reactive towards ourselves, others and life as well as teaching us how to be more present with all aspects of our experience, pleasant or painful. This art of relationship and presence is essential for self-improvement and inner transformation. It is equally essential for cultivating healthy personal relationships and resolving conflict. Stress and suffering is caused by the absence of mindfulness, just as inner balance and happiness is caused by a mind imbued with mindfulness.
